2010 National Entrepreneurship Week: Feb 20-27th

February 18th, 2010

Our friend Cathy Ashmore, Executive Director of the Consortium for Entrepreneurship Education is reminding everyone of National Entrepreneurship Week and what you can do to promote it in your community.

From Cathy:
We hope each of you are using this opportunity to show off your programs for future entrepreneurs….and celebrate those hard-working entrepreneurs in our communities.

Entrepreneurs and educators….YOU ALL MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Some Reminders:
• INVITE OTHERS to be part of your celebration…..parents, other teachers or classes, local business owners, and even the press. Our students can tell the story of entrepreneurship education best!

• GET OUT YOUR CAMERAS to record all the special results and then please send us copies of your photos with a short write-up. Videos and press releases would be great too.

• PUT UP SOME SIGNS showing your support for National Entrepreneurship Week. Use our templates in the Marketing Materials section of the website or create your own.

• USE YOUR WEBSITE to let others know about National Entrepreneurship Week… feel free to use our templates on the “NEW” website.

• Let us know how the “20 QUESTIONS FOR ALL AMERICANS” worked for you. We hope all entrepreneurship educators are using them in some way. ENTREPRENEURIAL LITERACY EMPOWERS EVERYONE!

• GOVERNORS’ PROCLAMATIONS are now posted for Maine, Michigan, New Mexico, North Dakota, Virginia, and Wisconsin. Please get a copy of your state proclamations to us so we can post them for all to see and use locally

• THINK OF OTHERS THAT NEED TO KNOW more about entrepreneurship education and send them our 2010 Call to Action:

“Career Ready with Entrepreneurship ….a Key 21st Century Skill!
A Call for Entrepreneurial “GENIUSES” for the Workplace”

Global Youth Enterprise Conference

July 23rd, 2008

Making Cents International
Announces the
Global Youth Enterprise Conference
September 15-16, 2008 in Washington, D.C.

http://www.youthenterpriseconference.org/

From their web site:

With the global youth population reaching a historical high of 1.5 billion, economies world-wide are increasingly unable to provide young people with jobs. The situation has reached critical proportions in developing countries where 1.3 billion youth reside. As youth employment grew by only 0.2 percent over the past decade while the global youth population grew at a rate of 10.5 percent, the world is experiencing a youth employment crisis and the challenges surrounding youth livelihoods have become increasingly complex. Innovative and sustainable approaches are therefore necessary to ensure these young people are able to lead healthy and productive lives that contribute to socio-economic development in their communities.

With this backdrop, Making Cents International will convene practitioners, donors, educators, youth, members of the private sector, representatives of governments, and other partners in youth enterprise, entrepreneurship, and livelihood development for the Global Youth Enterprise Conference. These conference participants are part of a growing community committed to investing in young people, and the innovations necessary to ensure programs and policies achieve greater impact, sustainability, and scale. Making Cents supports this community regularly meeting to share lessons learned, promising practices, and new ideas that create economic opportunities for young people.

This year’s conference themes are:

Market-Driven Approaches
Effective Methodologies and Practices for Monitoring, Evaluating, and Conducting Impact Assessments

Location Address:
George Washington University
Cafritz Conference Center, Marvin Center
800 21st St., NW
Washington, DC 20052

Hope you all are having a great summer!

Until next time, so long and good luck.
–Zach
